CHUMP for Palm OS
CHUMP for Palm OS is THE umpiring tool. Outfitting a tournament's umpires with CHUMP opens infinite possibilities for data collection, real-time scores on the WWW and TV captions, electronic fan enhancements, and............it makes the umpires' jobs easier. Multiple onscreen clocks, code & time violation tracking, dozens of scoring formats, and ball change alerts are just a few of the features CHUMP provides.
CHUMP supports real-time serial output to scoreboards and data-collection software. Optional capabilities include wireless data collection and custom scoreboard drivers.
CHUMP comes with Windows synch software which collects match data and prints out a scorecard on paper or to HTML or PDF files. For each match, a statistical summary page is provided, as well as a separate page for each set and an incidents summary page.
CHUMP for Palm OS was used at the 2001 Australian Open on an evaluation basis. CHUMP was used for every match at the 2002 US Open. Here are some photos of CHUMP in action at the 2002 US Open:

Palm cradles are bolted to the desk arm of the US Open umpire chairs. Every night, all the next day's matches are loaded onto 40 Palms, which are distributed to the chair umpires. When umpires arrive at the court, they drop their Palm into the cradle and the electronics on the court wake up, displaying the names of the players on two electronic display boards. Once the match starts, the umpire goes about his business while CHUMP automatically sends data to the oncourt electronic scoreboards and further downstream, winding up on the internet in real-time. Data is displayed on USOPEN.ORG instantly. CHUMP sends updates via satellite to pagers and PDAs worn by USTA and ITF supervisors and referees when the umpire needs assistance.

Inside "the Batcave", a control bunker inside Arthur Ashe Stadium, a technician monitors CHUMP data flow from 16 courts simultaneously.
